How did I get here

As a transwoman I always felt out of place with the boys and got angry getting typical boy toys; wanted all the girl toys, had girl interests and wanted to run for for the girl section in a clothing store. Now about 15 years after transitioning, with gender-diversity being more of an item I'm questioning everything again. And for me the answer is: I'm happy I can at least be as close to being a woman as I can ever be (even though missing some vital female traits still trips me up sometimes); but I have no issues having some male characteristics anymore. I now happily wear men's shirts and pants; like to engage in male dominated parts of society more, because I can still go home and feel like a woman (sort of) in the end. I have been called androgynous and non-binary; while I am coming to terms with in reality being gender-fluid. Sometimes societal evolution is something beautiful!! (Though it's a shame many people are still so conservative about things evolving... Even though they watched their kids watch Pokémon!)

Thanks it was really helpful somewhat. I do hate the fact that clothes are gendered and stereotyped. I don't dislike my body but I would like to be more neutral and fit everything. I'm a plus size woman but I don't care of my gender much. I do love to experiment but I'm still confused if it's a gender crisis or just a form of expression.

My attractions & relationships have been about a bisexual 50/50. But for marriage, I realized I could never actually marry a man. Heterosexual relationship can be easily handicapped by gender role expectations. Especially back in my dating years, the 1980s. I’m cis dressing, but not domestic. I dread the idea of doing my own chores, let alone feel obligated to pick up after a man. With so much social pressure to perform gender roles, I feared I would lose myself. I found more of myself in relationships with my own sex. There are fewer unspoken gender expectations. Also I can’t reduce my spouse to a gender stereotype when I’m mad at her. I have to deal with her, not her gender.

Excellent video and I love that you explained things. I'm a "newbie lesbian", or really "newbie at realizing she's a lesbian" so things like this are helpful. I didn't even know I wasn't straight until earlier this year when I realized that my "girl crushes" were actually regular crushes but on girls and my "crushes" on guys were fully platonic with only one exception. There's only one guy I ever truly felt attracted to (and what's weird is he's a traditionally masculine guy, I'm primarily attracted to feminine women). I like the way you went into detail explaining that sexuality isn't absolute. A good comparison is that I'm still a lesbian in the same way dropping a single packet of Kool-Aid mixture into Lake Michigan doesn't suddenly make it a lake of Kool-Aid.
